Day of Computer Science 2025

“Tag der Informatik” takes place on 5 June.

The Computer Science Day is an absolute highlight in the RWTH Aachen University calendar. It has been held annually since 1998 and serves as a farewell celebration for all students who have completed their Bachelor’s, Master’s or dissertation in the Department of Computer Science at RWTH. The day is divided into three parts: A job fair where RWTH talents can meet local, national and international industry, a graduation ceremony and a joint dinner including a party.

Job fair at the Informatics Center :

The job fair will take place in the foyer of building E2 of the Informatics Center (entrance Mies-van-der-Rohe-Straße) as well as in tents on the adjacent parking lot from 10:30 am. Numerous prominent exhibitors who are looking for top talent for HiWi and full-time jobs, internships and final theses will introduce themselves and invite you to get to know them. If you fancy some great prizes, you can try your luck on the wheel of fortune and, with a bit of luck, win entry to the party at LIEBIG. The job fair ends at 4 pm.

Graduation party in the main building:

The graduate parties for all those who have obtained their Bachelor’s, Master’s or doctoral degrees will take place in the Aachen-Münchener-Halle at Templergraben 55. It starts for the Bachelor students at 12 noon. After a welcoming address by Professor Leif Kobbelt, Professor Daniel Neider from TU Dortmund University, who himself once studied in Aachen, will give a keynote speech. The event continues at 3 p.m. for all those who have passed their Master’s or doctorate. RWTH alumni and senior staff member of the OpenAI Office in Zurich, Dr. Lucas Beyer, will speak after a welcoming address by Professor Bastian Leibe. After the honoring of the bachelor students, as well as the masters and doctoral students, there will be a champagne reception lasting 30 minutes. The graduation ceremony ends at 17:30.

Dinner and party at LIEBIG:

The cozy part of the “Day of Computer Science” begins at 6 pm at LIEBIG in Liebigstraße 19 with a welcoming address by Professor Holger Hoos and a video message from Rector Professor Ulrich Rüdiger. This will be followed by dinner, which will leave nothing to be desired. The dinner is exclusively for sponsors and graduates. The official party starts at 8 pm. With their DJ sets, the university radio station and Professor Joost-Pieter Katoen will make the “Day of Computer Science” a very special experience. Admission to the party is by wristband only. As a special surprise, a band of professors consisting of well-known RWTH personalities will also be playing. The party ends at 00:30. This year, the “Methodology of Artificial Intelligence” chair, which has been in existence since 2022 and is headed by Professor Holger Hoos, is responsible for organizing the event. Hoos and his team have set themselves the task of making this year’s “Computer Science Day” even more ambitious and impressive than in previous years. Under the motto “Top talent from the region for the region”, for the first time not only the job fair but also the joint dinner will be all about networking, collaboration and future-oriented projects.

Important information about the party:

Admission to the party is only possible with an appropriate wristband. Students have the opportunity to obtain admission wristbands at the job fair.
